How the Centroid Swap-Out Programs Works

Accidents happen. Whether a control board was damaged by incorrect wiring, electrical damage, or a probing system suffered an unfortunate crash, the Centroid Swap-Out Program provides a lower-cost alternative to purchasing a brand-new replacement.

Our swap-out products are intended for customers replacing an existing damaged Centroid component. They are not new product purchases.

Standard Swap-Out Procedure

  1. Purchase the appropriate Swap-Out product for your damaged component and provide any requested serial number or identifying information during checkout.
  2. Centroid Support will create an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) and email you complete return instructions, including your RMA number and shipping address.
  3. Ship your damaged component to Centroid following the instructions provided in the RMA email. Unless otherwise noted on the product page, only the failed component should be returned—do not include accessories, cables, power supplies, or other items that are not requested.
  4. After your return has been received, inspected, and matched to your RMA, Centroid will ship your replacement component using the shipping method selected during checkout.

Need Your Replacement Faster?

Because swap-out products require the original component to be returned, the fastest way to receive your replacement is to minimize transit time both directions.

Customers needing the quickest turnaround may:

  • Select an expedited shipping method for the replacement order during checkout.
  • Ship their damaged component back to Centroid using an expedited carrier service (such as UPS 2nd Day Air or Next Day Air).

Please note that Centroid cannot ship the replacement until the returned component has been received and processed.

International Customers

For customers outside the United States, return shipping costs may exceed the value of the component being exchanged.

In these situations, Centroid may approve an alternative return process, such as providing detailed high-resolution photographs of the damaged component instead of returning it. These exceptions are evaluated case-by-case and must be approved by Centroid Support before a replacement is shipped.

Additional Information

  • Swap-out products may consist of either new or factory-refurbished components depending on current inventory.
  • Every replacement component is fully tested before shipment.
  • Warranty coverage, when applicable, is described on the individual product page and may vary by product.
  • Any software licenses associated with eligible control boards will be transferred to the replacement board where applicable.
  • Product-specific return requirements (such as returning a BBG with an Acorn board or excluding accessories) are listed on the individual Swap-Out product page.

Acorn Swap-Out Board

Acorn Swap-Out Program:
In the event of non-warranty user-inflicted damage, Centroid offers a 'reduced cost' Acorn board Swap-out program.

Acorn Swap-out Procedure:
1.) To proceed with the swap-out, purchase the Acorn Swap-Out Board for $199 from this page, ensuring you enter the Barcode/Serial Number in the designated field (this is NOT the BBG Serial Number. If the serial number you entered begins with "BBG" that is not the correct number!).
 
2.) Centroid will contact you with RMA Details, including an RMA Number and address to ship the damaged board to.
 
3.) Ship back the damaged Acorn board including the CPU (Beagle Bone Green, aka BBG). *See notes below
 
4.) Upon receiving the RMA package, Centroid will ship a replacement Acorn board (no power supply or cables included just a swap-out Acorn with BBG) via the shipping method selected and paid for at checkout. Any License files purchased for the returned board will be transferred to the swap-out board and provided via email along with tracking number of the swap-out shipment.

Notes:

   - The provided "Swapout Acorn boards" are a mixture of refurbished and new Acorn boards depending on what we have in stock at that moment.

   - All swap-out boards are fully tested and operational before shipping

   - Warranty date is from the original purchase date for any swap-out Acorn Board.

   - Do not return any cables, power supplies or terminal blocks.

   - Please be sure to return the Acorn board with the CPU (Beagle Bone Green, aka BBG) attached.

AcornSix Swap-Out Board

AcornSix Swap-Out Program:
In the event of non warranty user inflicted damage, Centroid offers an AcornSix board Swap-out program.

AcornSix Swap-out Procedure:

1.) E-mail support@centroidcnc.com the AcornSix board serial number and request an AcornSix swap-out RMA number.
 
2.) Pay the $595 swap-out cost by purchasing this product and listing the RMA number in the box above.
 
3.) When you receive an email documenting the payment, forward that email to support@centroidcnc.com.
 
4.) Ship back the damaged AcornSix board (with BBG) following Centroid RMA guidelines found in the RMA email from support@centroidcnc.com. * see notes below
 
5.) Upon receiving the RMA package, Centroid will ship a replacement AcornSix board UPS GND (no power supply or cables included just a swap-out AcornSix with BBG). Any License files purchased for the returned board will be transferred to the swap-out board and provided via email along with tracking number of the swap-out shipment.

 
Notes:
- The provided "Swap-out AcornSix boards" are a mixture of refurbished and new AcornSix boards depending on what we have in stock at that moment.
 
- All swap-out boards are fully tested and operational before shipping.

Centroid "TRex" THC Torch Height Controller Swapout

This product is part of the TRex Board Swap-Out Program. You must already own a TRex board and return your original board.

This product listing is for those who have let the 'magic smoke' out of their Plasma TRex THC Kit's Board.

This product comes with no accessories, it is just the TRex Board.

How it works:

1.) Use the "Add to Cart" button and purchase the $299 TRex THC swapout.

2.) Centroid support will email you an RMA number (Return Merchandise Authorization) with instructions.

3.) Package the old TRex board carefully (board only, no cables or connectors as you will need those for your swapout) and clearly mark the outside of the box with the RMA number.

4.) Centroid will send a swapout TRex board once your TRex board has reached our facility.

KP-1 Swapout/Repair Program

KP-1 Repair/Swapout FAQ's

1.) When I send in a KP-1 for a swapout will it have the refit upgrade technology? Yes, All repairs or swapouts will be sure to have the latest upgrades.

2.) How does this effect my warranty? A new 1 year manufacture defect warranty will start from the refit date.

3.) How long will the repair/swapout take? That depends on demand but we estimate around 5-7 working days turn around time.

4.) How will the probe be shipped back to me? Ground Shipping for USA customers. International customers will be asked to pay for the actual return shipping costs before shipping.

5.) Can I provide my UPS number and/or pay for overnight shipping? Yes. When you get the RMA number email reply to diysales@centroidcnc.com and inform them that you would like overnight shipping, provide your UPS account number or ask to be billed for the overnight shipping costs.

6.) Should I also ship back the stylus? Please so not ship back any Styli, Styli are not covered by the Repair/Swapout program. New styli can be purchased below.

7.) Should I also ship back the cable? No, but let us know if you need a new cable.

Yes, it happens. You can go for years without crashing a probe but even the best of us eventually make a mistake and plow the probe into the vise or work piece. No stress, when that happens you can send the KP-1 back and for a flat fee of $195 we will repair or replace the probe.

2.) Centroid support will email you an RMA number (Return Merchandise Authorization) with instructions.

3.) Package the probe properly, pay particular attention to protecting the nose of the probe, insure the package for the cost of a new KP-1 and clearly mark the outside of the box with the RMA number.

4.) Centroid will repair or replace the probe and ship back to you and email you a tracking number.
