Centroid's CNC12 software ownership is a buy-once, use-forever license model. With Centroid CNC12 you purchase a perpetual software license. This means you own that version of the software indefinitely, with no recurring maintenance fees or subscriptions required to keep using it. The license is tied to a single CNC controller main board, it can be installed on as many computers/cnc12 installations as needed and does not require annual service contracts, recurring subscriptions, internet connections/validations or check-ins on the CNC control.
License Version Upgrades will be provided free of charge for major versions released within 12 months of your original CNC main board (Acorn, AcornSix, Hickory, Allin1DC, Oak, MPU11) purchase.
Licenses purchased within 30 days of a major version release are eligible for a free Version Upgrade to the next version.

Once a software license has been assigned to a control, it becomes non-transferable with the exception of RMAs. After a software license has been generated it is non-refundable and can not be exchanged for another version of Software unless you are upgrading from Lathe Pro to Lathe Ultimate.

The Pro and Ultimate Software is not subscription based, once you purchase the License it is yours for life. Currently we are on CNC12, in the future we may release “CNC13” for instance and there may be a cost to upgrade the software at that point, but you would never lose access to what you already have.

- Can I buy one Pro AcornSix CNC12 license and use it on several AcornSix CNC control boards?
- No, the Centroid AcornSix Pro and Ultimate licenses are tied to the AcornSix board serial number. When purchasing a Pro or Ultimate license, the AcornSix serial number is required and then a Pro or Ulitmate license is created that matches the AcornSix board serial. When the CNC12 software starts, it checks the Pro or Ultimate license against the AcornSix board that is connected to the CNCPC for a match. If it matches, then that particular level (Pro or Ultimate) of CNC12 software is made active. If it doesn't match, then the CNC12 software runs at the "Free" level. (So AcornSix CNC12 will run without any license installed)
- If I buy an AcornSix Mill Pro CNC12 license and then decide to upgrade to the Ultimate license how much does that cost?
- $299
- Can I buy an AcornSix Mill Pro and AcornSix Lathe Pro and AcornSix Utlimate for use on the same AcornSix Board?
- Yes.
- Can I ask Centroid to move a Pro or Ultimate software License from one Acorn board to another?
- If Centroid issues an RMA for an AcornSix board to be returned, any License associated with that board can be transferred to another AcornSix board.
- Do I have to state at time of purchase what machine I plan on using the AcornSix with?
- No. Both the Mill and Lathe Free version of AcornSix CNC12 control software is available for download so you can configure the AcornSix controller for a wide variety of machine tools. The hardware doesn't care what kind of machine it connected to.
- If I bought an AcornSix Mill Pro License, can I use it with the AcornSix Lathe Software?
- No. The AcornSix Pro License is Mill and Lathe specific. There is a Pro License for Mill and there is a Pro license for Lathe.
- If I destroyed the BBG (Beagle Bone Green) that came with my AcornSix board can I supply my own?
- Yes, but the License file(s) that were issued for that AcornSix will not work with the new BBG. Centroid offers License transfer service for $29 which requires you to email us a report.zip file to diysales@centroidcnc.com. Information on how to generate a report.zip file is here.
- How big of a G-code program can I run with the Free version of CNC12 software?
- 50Kb.
  
  To give you an idea of what can be done with the Free version of the AcornSix CNC12 software: on our website is a part program for a SEM DC servo motor cover plate, below on the left is the plate being installed and on the right is the tool path that was used to make the cover plate. This G code program to make this part is 5Kb in size.
  
  This is pretty typical of a home hobby shop type part. The G code file generated by a cad cam system or in this case Centroid's Intercon conversational programming software (with comments!) to make this part the G-code program is only 5kb in size. The Centroid FREE version of CNC12 has a file size limitation of 50KB so you could run a G code program 10 times this size with the Free version of CNC12. As you can see, you can do a lot even with the Free version of the AcornSix CNC12 software.

  Note: The Centroid PRO version of CNC12 has no file size limitation so you could run a file as large as the hard drive on the CNCPC and the Ultimate License also has no file size limitation. (only limited by the size of the CNCPC hard drive space)
- How long does it take to ship the AcornSix CNC control kit?
- Typically the AcornSix CNC control kits are in stock ready to ship and ship within one or two business day from Howard, PA via UPS GND. You will receive an email with tracking number when your kit ships.
- Can I order an AcornSix CNC control kit over the phone? And do you have resellers in the EU?
- Yes. Centroid accepts orders for AcornSix kits through our website, phone and email. We do ship internationally! International shipping will be calculated after the sale typical Air Freight cost range in the $70 to $120 for typical AcornSix kit international orders.
- Do you have a list of drives that AcornSix works with?
- The AcornSix CNC controller commands many different types of servo and stepper motor drives with industry standard "Step and Direction" drive communication signals. Any drive that accepts Step and Direction is compatible with the AcornSix CNC Controller. The list of known compatible drives is too long to list so we've highlighted a few here:

In the DIY CNC market, dedicated lathe software is hard to find, especial if you want a fast to use conversational interface. Here you get the conversational Intercon dialog, and a virtual control panel perfectly preconfigured for a CNC lathe. My Lathe is a Mill Turn with C and Y axis. Complex 4 axis parts are the only reason I use CAM. For turning only, Intercon is faster than any external CAM system. Perfect for shop made parts in minutes from a pencil sketch. If you use CAM, fusion360 comes with a very good PP for Centroid, post to the CNC and the g code works the same way as shown in the simulation. Easy to customize the UI with the Color Picker and the user configurable VCP. For editing g code the software starts the NP++ editor which is better to use than build in editors of industrial CNC systems.
